Experienced Material Handler Needed

Day shift 

The Material Handler is responsible for handling, counting, identifying, moving, and organizing materials throughout the warehouse with the use of carts, pallet jacks, or by hand. In the Shipping department, the Material Handler focuses on organizing, preparing, and loading material for shipment. This includes following detailed procedures to ensure that product is accurately shipped to customers. 

Job Requirements:

Safely handles material to prevent injury to self/others and damage to material
• Maintains organization and cleanliness of warehouse by following best practices and standard procedures where applicable
• Communicates quality issues, including mismatched product, poor packaging, and damaged material promptly
• Assists in unloading container shipments as needed
• Assists with the material handling responsibilities of other departments as needed
• In Shipping:
o Straps, wraps, bands, and labels outgoing pallets and small parcels
o Consolidates material coming from different areas of the warehouse that are shipping to the same customer location
o Ensures packaging, counts, and proper material are checked prior to loading shipment
o Loads outgoing trucks once shipments are prepared
• Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspection

Position Overview:

Under close supervision, performs the assembly of electrical components per the drawings and attached documentation to meet customer specifications while ensuring safety and quality standards. This includes a wide variety of repetitive and non-repetitive mechanical/electrical subassembly and assembly operations of a semi-skilled nature to produce products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble components to top level assembly per drawing and procedures.
  • Makes accurate mathematical calculations and uses precision measuring instruments as required.
  • Uses a variety of hand & power tools (i.e. arbor press, soldering iron, electrical wire strippers) to perform skilled fitting and assembly work.  Inspect parts and performs basic tests.
  • Prepare products for final testing which include strip, tin, and labeling.
  • Perform hand soldering using a soldering iron (tinning operation)
  • Performs basic testing, assembly and or disassembly of assemblies using both traditional and non-traditional tooling such as multi-meter, screwdriver, torque wrench, standard wrench, etc.
  • Reworks and repairs defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.
  • Support stockroom kitting of materials for electrical assembly
  • Recommend process improvements in production methods, equipment performance, and product quality and employee safety.
  • Actively participate in team problem solving methods for product quality enhancements.
  • Learn entry-level material transactions and labor reporting on MRP planning system.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Electrical assembly
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
