Job Description
Remedy Staffing is currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Water Utility Technician for a local municipal utility department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing the city’s water distribution system, ensuring residents and businesses receive safe and reliable water service. The Water Utility Technician will assist with water line repairs, meter installations, system maintenance, and emergency service calls while following all safety regulations and operational procedures.
This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with the potential to become a permanent employee.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain water mains, service lines, valves, hydrants, and related utility infrastructure.
- Read, install, repair, and replace water meters.
- Assist with locating underground water lines and utility assets.
- Respond to water service requests, leaks, and emergency repair situations.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on water system components.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment as required.
- Assist with excavation, trenching, and back filling operations.
- Follow all safety procedures, including trench safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to work safely around utility equipment and excavation sites.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to participate in on-call and emergency response rotations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in water utilities, public works, construction, plumbing, or a related field.
- Experience operating equipment and tools used in utility maintenance.
- Knowledge of water distribution systems and utility maintenance practices.
- Experience reading utility maps, blueprints, and service diagrams.
- Experience working in a municipal or public works environment.
