Direct Hire Full Time Position

Position Overview 

The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of production, maintenance, and machine shop departments to meet manufacturing goals. This role focuses on improving systems, processes, and resource utilization to drive productivity, quality, and efficiency. The Director will serve as a key member of the facility leadership team and collaborate across departments to ensure successful manufacturing outcomes. 
 
What You Will Do 

  • Lead and direct manufacturing activities to meet objectives related to safety, quality, service, cost and inventory. 
  • Collaborate with purchasing, planning, engineering and quality teams to ensure seamless operations and effective resource utilization. 
  • Drive process improvements to reduce costs and improve efficiency and labor productivity. 
  • Ensure cGMP-compliant production and maintain a strong focus on quality and regulatory compliance. 
  • Participate in facility-level meetings and share best practices on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies. 
  • Provide monthly input into labor, spending, and absorption forecasts. 
  • Supervise and support production teams through front-line leadership and technical guidance. 
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering to ensure adherence to specifications, drawings, and production documentation. 
  • Evaluate and implement improved manufacturing methods, layouts, and workflows. 
  • Analyze staffing needs, space utilization, and equipment layout to optimize manufacturing flow. 
  • Provide key inputs to management related to production timelines, labor needs, and cost projections. 
  • Collaborate across departments to align manufacturing with company objectives. 
  • Mentor and develop supervisory personnel through training, feedback, and career development support. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

 
  • Coaching and developing employees. 
  • Planning, scheduling, and reviewing work.
  • Conducting performance evaluations. 
  • Participating in hiring and on-boarding. 
  • Managing disciplinary actions, including terminations. 
  • Overseeing salary and compensation decisions within scope.
 

Job Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution required. 
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments required. 
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing teams and implementing improvement methodologies (Lean, Kanban, 5S, Visual Manufacturing) required. 
 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in FDA-regulated environments or ISO-certified operations is highly preferred.

Job Summary:

Responsible for all aspects of the incoming quality processes including supervising the department employees and directing daily scheduling of incoming quality activities to assure accurate and efficient inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures of incoming materials, parts, and components used in the manufacture of medical devices, partially assembled, or finished medical devices. Inspect sterilized product, where appropriate, and perform review of Device History Records (DHR} for release of finished products.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and train employees to perform jobs correctly and to inspect product efficiently while keeping all required work-related records up to date.
  • Perform inspections of purchased parts, sub-assemblies or finished company products according to well defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/or electrical measurements while maintaining a steady workflow.
  • Rework or reject sub-assemblies or finished products as required.
  • Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing and assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol, and checklists.
  • Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and fixtures with calibration department.
  • Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Maintain organized product hold cage.
  • Participate in the construction and/or revision of procedures for the inspection function.
  • Evaluate problems and make recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisor.
  • Perform review of Device History Records and other documentation for compliance to established procedures and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Monitor and train incoming quality employees to the core requirements of their positions.
  • Serve as communication link between management and the department to ensure quality information flow.
  • Provide effective leadership and coaching to department members, including goal setting and performance feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university; or 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience using QAD or similar MRPS software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to interface with personnel both inter and intra departmental to support the most efficient process for product introduction.
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent PC skills in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Must be detail oriented with good time management skills and ability to prioritize by using good judgment.
