Building Maintenance Technician (Carpentry)
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dependable and skilled Building Maintenance Technician with carpentry experience to assist with the maintenance, repair, and improvement of city-owned properties and municipal buildings. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and can work independently as well as part of a team.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential for full-time city employment and excellent benefits upon permanent hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform general carpentry repairs and maintenance on city buildings and facilities
- Repair doors, windows, walls, ceilings, flooring, and trim
- Install and replace fixtures, hardware, and building materials
- Assist with remodeling, renovation, and improvement projects
- Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance needs
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and organized condition
- Follow all safety procedures, policies, and city regulations
- Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in carpentry, construction, building maintenance, or a related field preferred
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
- Knowledge of general building repair and maintenance practices
- Ability to read and follow work orders, instructions, and safety procedures
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work areas
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery required for building maintenance
- Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to perform maintenance duties safely
