Description
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine for vertical and horizontal milling operations; maintaining quality, efficiency, and safety standards; record keeping; production outputPlans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, work order data from engineering, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).Checking stock-parts to ascertain amount available; anticipating needed stock; request expedited orders for stock-parts; verifying receipt of stock.Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.Sets-up mills by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.Maintains specifications by observing milling, grooving, and cutting, including all vertical and horizontal milling machine specs; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
