Position: Full-time, Human Services Support Specialist
Location: Honolulu

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, occasional evening and weekend hours
Pay: $18.00 per hour

The Human Services Support Specialist provides person-centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in various settings, fostering independence and improving quality of life. This role promotes community integration, skill development, and advocacy by assisting participants in achieving personal and program goals. The Support Specialist acts as a reliable resource for individuals and their families while ensuring safety, compliance, and dignity in care.
Job Duties:
- Assist participants with daily living skills, personal care needs, and community integration to promote independence.
- Coordinate and implement individual service plans; conduct ongoing assessment, progress tracking, and documentation.
- Utilize effective communication and active listening to build trust with participants, families, and community partners.
- Provide transportation and maintain accurate mileage and activity logs.
- Access and connect participants to local resources, support networks, and employment readiness services.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including data entry, safety documentation, and incident reporting.
- Participate in staff training, team meetings, and professional development to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants by applying appropriate crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract required.
- CPR/First Aid certification, TB clearance, and background checks (Criminal History, APS/CPS) required.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs with assistance.
- Strong interpersonal, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting policies, safety rules, and written instructions
