Quality Engineer, FT Days

CLYDE NY

Remedy Professional Services is currently recruiting for a full-time, direct-hire Quality Engineer to work days, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm.

Our client company is a rapidly growing manufacturer in Clyde.

This position develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards and evaluation methods for products and processes. Provides moderately complex statistical information for quality improvement by determining and applying testing methods and criteria. Coordinates and guides technical evaluations, analysis, and related data acquisition processes to ensure quality objectives are achieved.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Assesses quality performance (or cost-of- quality) using statistical and analytical methods. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, reliability, and accuracy of products, processes, and production equipment.
  • Develops and establishes quality systems and procedures, inspection plans, quality performance trends, statistical plans cost estimates, and technical quality plans for proposals.
  • Assess the cost of, and determines the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications by performing statistical analyses.
  • Assures the timely processing of nonconforming materials and assists in the disposition process by participating in failure analysis and corrective action investigations.
  • May design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment, and conduct quality assurance tests.
  • Develops sampling plans by applying attribute, variable, and sequential sampling methods. Devises sampling procedures and designs and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data.
  • Develops statistical process controls by applying and maintaining applicable control charts.
  • Refines and enhances products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/ productions principles and techniques to areas of production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (BS) in Engineering or related technical discipline and 2 years as a quality engineer
  • Proficient in all basic quality tools, i.e., problem solving such as 8D, DMAIC, root cause analysis, 5Why, Ishikawa, and cause mapping.
  • Proficient in creating and interpreting data reports
  • Ability to interpret a broad variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form that include several abstract and concrete variables.
  • American Society for Quality certificated preferred.

This position will pay $58-75K.

Job duties:

1. Courteously and professionally represent the company in all day-to-day interactions with customers, co-workers and vendors.

2. Act as a primary point of contact for the resolution of customer/vendor issues by working efficiently and effectively with all departments.

3. Process Purchase Orders from customers. This includes entering all appropriate data into Epicor system: correct costs, customer pricing, freight company, ship dates and delivery times, payment terms, revision numbers, samples needed (if necessary) and other terms as required.

4. Effectively manage those customers using blanket purchase orders, ensuring, where possible, company involvement in all appropriate forecast methodologies and processes used. Every effort should be made to maintain optimal inventories for both the customer and the company.

5. New business orders should undergo contract review, as arranged by Customer Service, Sales or Operations, to ensure accuracy of pricing, delivery requirements, terms and any other pertinent details. If issues are uncovered, work with appropriate party to resolve them as soon as possible. Communicate the resolution with all involved.

6. Assist in the preparation of new quotations as assigned by direct or senior management.

7. Assist Purchasing Department, as necessary, in case of illness, vacation or emergency.

This position analyzes, researches, and designs components or a system of components for new products or to improve existing products while reducing cost, enhancing performance, or facilitating manufacturing operations. Designs products or systems of moderate scope and complexity using a variety of engineering principles from mechanical, materials science, or other engineering disciplines.

 

Additional responsibilities:

  • Creates designs by analyzing product specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capabilities. Performs moderately complex design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of components, subsystems, and systems. May develop detailed designs by using sketches and descriptive transfer functions provided by others.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of product layouts, detailed drawings, and assembly drawings by coordinating with designers or drafters, interpreting customer and functional requirements, and by using computer-aided design tools and following industry and drawing standards
  • Conducts analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes and completes required documentation
  • Communicates with customers on product capabilities and to clarify customers' technical requirements
  • Recommends changes to refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to areas of production

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (BS) in Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering field.
  • Professional entry level position. May have limited prior industry experience or worked with direction in student internship programs.
  • Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) or Mechanical Engineering (ASME) certification desired.
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of drawing practices, tolerancing and use of computer-aided design and basic engineering analysis tools.
  • Ability to effectively apply continuous improvement principles and techniques to design and manufacturing areas.
  • Fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.

This position will pay $65-70K.
