The General manager is responsible for all aspects of operations at the hotel, to day-to-day staff management and guests. He / She should be an ambassador for the brand and your hotel. Provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture, maximized operations and guest satisfaction. Work Very closely with the hotel owners and other stake holders.

GM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the operations functions of the hotel, as per the Organizational chart.

  • Hold regular briefings and meetings with all head of departments.

  • Ensure full compliance to Hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards.

  • Lead all key property issues including capital projects, customer service and refurbishment.

  • Handling complaints, and oversee the service recovery procedures.

  • Responsible for the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of the hotel's annual Operating Budget, Marketing & Sales Plan and Capital Budget.

  • Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded.

  • Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotels and management.

  • Deliver hotel budget goals and set other short and long term strategic goals for the property.

  • Developing improvement actions, carry out costs savings.

  • A strong understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies

  • Closely monitor the hotels business report on a daily basis and take decisions accordingly. 

  • Ensure that monthly financial outlooks for Rooms, Food & Beverage, Admin & General, on target and accurate.

  • Maximizing room yield and hotels / resort revenue through innovative sales practices and yield management programs.

  • Prepare a monthly financial reporting for the owners and stake holders.

  • Draw up plans and budget (revenues, costs, etc.) for the owners.

  • Helping in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipments and services. 

  • Act as a final decision maker in hiring a key staffs.

  • Coordination with HOD's for the execution of all activities and functions.

  • Overseeing and managing all departments and working closely with department heads on a daily basis.

  • Manage and develop the Hotel Executive team to ensure career progression and development.

  • Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints.

  • Provide effective leadership to hotel team members.

  • Lead in all aspects of business planning.

  • Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved.

  • Corporate client handling and take part in new client acquisition along with the sales team whenever required.

  • Assisting in residential sales as and when required and development with strong sales prospects.

  • Responsible for safeguarding the quality of operations both (internal & external audits).

  • Responsible for legalization, Occupational Health & Safety Act, fire regulations and other legal requirements.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reports to Purchasing/Facilities Manager. Opens the building every morning and ensures the office is properly lit and unlocked for business hours. Ensures cleanliness of the building. Handles light maintenance on interior and exterior of building. Promotes the maintenance of safe working conditions within the company. Assists with and is trained for emergency situations.  Provides back-up to the Warehouse/Delivery Coordinator.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Opens the building every morning to include unlocking, disarming alarm system and turning on all of the building’s lights.  Reports any issues with the security system to the Purchasing/Facilities Manager.
  2. Handles light maintenance throughout the building to include: stocking rest rooms, changing light bulb ballasts as necessary, maintaining the coffee machine, dealing with maintenance issues, painting, etc. for all office locations.

 

  1. Ensures cleanliness of the building to include the bathrooms, elevators, garage, warehouse areas, stairwells, etc. Must ensure all spaces are clean and free of clutter.  Assists with breaking down cardboard and removing trash from all areas of the building.

 

  1. Ensures that facilities are inspected twice daily for cleanliness and repair.  Reports and maintains repair paperwork for each facility.

 

  1. Facilitates all contractor work (i.e. plumbing, electricians, etc.)  Completes requisitions

and processes invoice paperwork that applies to jobs performed by vendors.

 

  1. Maintains the exterior of the building and property grounds to include grass cutting, litter removal, salting for ice/snow, window washing, etc.

 

  1. Arranges for the carpet cleaning company to come in as necessary.  Has floors cleaned two times each year.
  2. Helps other employees lift heavy equipment as needed.  Cleans equipment on demo floor when needed.

 

  1. Assists with ensuring proper maintenance of the trucks. Maintains DOT medical certification.   
  2. Assist with and is trained for emergency situations. Assists the Purchasing/Facilities Manager with the building safety drills.
  3. Responsible for the purchasing of supplies needed to keep the building clean. Also orders and picks up items needed to properly stock bathrooms and breakroom.

     

    1.  Participates as a member of the Safety Committee. Recommends measures to reduce or eliminate accidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations. Responsible for checking fire extinguishers, eye wash stations and fire alarm system per scheduling.
    2. Provides backup to the Warehouse/Delivery Coordinator with daily tasks as needed.

     

    1.  Collects recycling materials throughout the building and works with recycling companies to schedule the pick-up of all materials.

     

    1. Assist Shipping and Parts Department with various task as needed.    

               

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Ability to lift 75 pounds.

    Ability to communicate effectively telephone and in person.

    Ability to stand, bend, stoop, push, and pull in order to move copier equipment.

    Ability to utilize a desktop computer and keyboard for data entry and retrieval purposes.
