SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production equipment along with routine maintenance of the plant facilities and grounds according to OSHA safety standards. 

Essential Functions of Maintenance Technician:

  • Responsible for the safety and security of the building and grounds. 
  • Inspect alarm systems and assume responsibility for the fire safety of the building 
  • Install, assemble and test new machines and equipment, understand and comply with workplace safety regulations 
  • Train employees on proper equipment usage 
  • Repair malfunctioning equipment units and broken structures 
  • Inspect equipment regularly for signs of malfunction, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises and conducting scheduled testing as appropriate 
  • Inspect facility for needed repairs 
  • Maintain ventilation, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, steam and electrical systems 
  • Ensure compliance with certifying authorities 
  • Order and receive supplies and equipment and maintain necessary inventories 
  • Able to work independently or with other team members in an effective manner 
  • Perform peer-to-peer inspections on work performed by other technicians 
  • Coordinate with contractors for larger maintenance projects as needed (i.e. equipment installation, snow removal, landscaping, construction…) 
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks 
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner

Job Requirements

Preferred Education / Qualifications:

  • Two year technical degree or 2 years related experience 
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, carpentry, general maintenance and filling line equipment 
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude 
  • Attention to detail 
  • Communicates well 
  • Knowledge and understanding of all tools needed to perform job

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing or walking constantly
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction 
  • Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hand or hands, but without finger dexterity 
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hand(s) or arm(s); using a keyboard, for example 
  • Feeling to perceive an object’s  size, shape, temperature or texture by means of senses in your skin
  • Bending, Stooping, Reaching
