Summary:

The Paper Cutter Operator is responsible for the production equipment to manufacture envelopes, folders and cardstock to meet customer demands.

 Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Review specifications to determine cut sequence, type of fold, sheet size
  • Measure from edge of sheet using scale to determine cutting positions
  • Program equipment
  • Remove sheets of raw material from pallets to the cutter bed. Align the cutter guide in preparation for cutting
  • Visually check cut material for any imperfections and adjust program as needed
  • Change knives and lubricate as needed and/or as recommended by manufacturers specifications
  • Maintain Production Reports and work orders
  • Ability to check raw materials in ERP
  • Maintain acceptable productivity standards while minimizing raw material waste
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance as required
  • Perform Cycle Counts
  • Process Improvement Projects
  • Additional tasks and duties as assigned

 Working Conditions

  • Facility can get hot in the summer months
  • Manufacturing floor is noisy and loud due to equipment
  • Exposure to paper dust
  • Manufacturing equipment has multiple moving parts and can be dangerous if proper operation and safety procedures are violated

Job Requirements

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, job jackets, press imposition and rule-up sheets
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must have basic electronic and computer skills
  • Extensive lifting and bending
  • Self-directed, motivated and goal oriented with strong sense of urgency
  • Certified on Forklift and Cherry Picker preferred
  • 95% of day spent standing/walking
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to be flexible to cover other shifts where needed
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; time management skills
  • Works well in a team environment, communicates well with others and can interact with people at all levels and departments
  • Problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills; clear focus on quality
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines
  • Positive demeanor; dependable
