Industrial Sales Representative / Cleveland / Akron / Canton

Position Summary:

Our Client is looking for an Industrial Sales Representative that will support a variety of industries in a sales and repairs function. As a representative, you will be the first point of contact for existing, new, and potential clients. You will also be responsible for generating new leads in each of the industries, establishing and building relationships with potential clients, and closing sales opportunities by using established methods to meet sales goals and objectives. Our ideal candidate is someone with 2-3 years of experience in selling and with a strong mechanical (even hands-on) background. Our preferred candidate would have considerable knowledge of manufacturing processes and/or some exposure to controls and PLC functionality combined with the ability to have educated discussions about the trend towards industry 4.0 when speaking with existing or new clients.  The candidate must have a keen sense of customer service and professionalism in representing our company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify, create, and follow up on new business opportunities and leads
  • Grow, manage, and retain existing accounts
  • Ensure client questions/ inquiries are responded to in a timely manner
  • Address client issues with tact and positivity while gathering current & accurate information.
  • Working with Senior Management to negotiate contracts with prospective clients.
  • Utilize the telephone, email, and online platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) to correspond directly with clients.
  • Provide assistance with current / prospective clients within the assigned industry vertical and also provide assistance with other vertical markets.
  • Thorough attention to detail when checking client quotes, processing orders, and ensuring accurate information.
  • Process request for quotes, obtain updated costing / pricing information.
  • Working towards targets and goals set by our company
  • Build strong internal relationships with office, engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams.
  • Collaborate with decision-makers and technical team to develop solutions that meet client needs and objectives
  • Present an image that mirrors high integrity and the values of the company.
  • Research and obtain knowledge of the targeted industry.
  • Adjust content of sales presentations to align with client needs
  • Focus sales efforts by studying existing and potential trends and outlooks
  • Keep management informed by submitting activities and results reports

Skills/Strengths: Must be proficient with computer work and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be an effective communicator. Must be well-organized, have excellent written grammar skills, and be comfortable talking on the phone.

Job Requirements

Knowledge: Must be proficient with math, including calculation using fractions, percent, and/or ratios. Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Comprehend and understand technical/mechanical drawings and product information. Knowledge of the assigned industry vertical desired but not required.

Ability: Ability to communicate with clients confidently and accurately. Possess a sense of urgency and have great follow-up skills. Excellent interpersonal flexibility, which is engaging and able to work with varied personalities in a variety of situational circumstances and environments. Must be a proactive problem solver who enjoys the challenge of developing client solutions and creating ‘win-win’ scenarios. Ability to adapt, reset, shuffle priorities, and enjoy being challenged.  Willingness to travel up to 75% and a valid driver’s license.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • 2-3 years in an inside/outside sales role
  • 2-3 years of mechanical experience

Travel Requirements – 75% - 100%

  • The candidate will be located in the Richfield, Ohio facility
  • Daily travel within the Northeast Ohio territory is required for in-person customer facility visits, however, not overnight
  • Infrequent overnight travel for training purposes only
