Local company looking for a great Staff Accountant to join them!

  1. Minimum Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field preferred, or extensive high level bookkeeping experience
  • 3 years’ experience in an accounting setting to become familiar with the accepted accounting practices involved in maintaining complex financial records, reconciling accounting information and preparing financial statements
  • Must be able to pass a financial credit check
  • Ability to use independent judgement when making decisions
  • Ability to understand financial transactions, research problems, develop and implement solutions
  • Understand accounting principles and theory; requires working knowledge of software as required to support job responsibilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in speaking and writing
  • Ability to work well with non-financial professionals
  • Ability to work productively while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Work requires knowledge of general accounting principles usually through 2 years post-secondary education in accounting or a related business field 
  1. Essential Functions Of Position 
  1. Accounting Responsibilities 
  • Perform a variety of complex accounting tasks involved in maintaining financial records and processing related data, supply and inventory control, prepare budget proposals as directed, monitor, verify and reconcile accounts, prepare, review and distribute internal management financial statements 
  • Perform detailed variance analysis of financial results, including research to source documents such as invoices, payments and other information as required 
  • Prepare and process payroll 
  • Process daily bank transfers 
  • Process other draft bi-weekly to ensure expenses are recovered from appropriate locations 
  • Oversee AP process, assist with entering invoices as needed 
  • Maintain insurance spreadsheets to ensure all data and amounts are accurate 
  • Prepare and coordinate departmental budgets as directed, to include preparing budgetary projections according to established guidelines, assist in the preparation and coordination of loan or lease proposals and monitor, verify and reconcile loan or lease funds and principle and interest payments 
  • Develop enhancements to current systems and processes to increase or maintain productivity and efficiency 
  • Analyze financial transactions and properly record activity in the books and records of the corporation 
  • Prepare journal entries and produce detailed general ledgers, financial reports and financial analysis on an ongoing and timely basis 
  • Maintain accurate and timely reconciliation of all company accounts and other bank activity 
  • Exercise technical skill in accounting matters
