The Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW) is a statewide public health survey designed to help improve health in Wisconsin and throughout the world. The program has been in operation by the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health since 2008.
SHOW is partnering with the Department of Health Services (DHS) to conduct serological testing for COVID-19 antibodies in a representative sample of Wisconsin residents to estimate exposure to the disease across the state and by region.
SHOW will invite past study participants in ten Wisconsin counties to provide a blood sample for COVID-19 antibody testing. Volunteers will come to a location within the county to give a blood sample and answer a short questionnaire. Participants will receive test results and a financial incentive for their time. Phlebotomists will be provided with PPE, and volunteers will be asked to wear masks. Only asymptomatic volunteers without exposure to COVID-19 within last 14 days will be allowed to participate. Phlebotomists will be asked to work in pairs.
The Phlebotomists on the project will complete in-person regional and online training and will conduct appointments over a 2-4 week period. This position is full-time (35-40 hours per week). Testing will be conducted in June-July 2020 and two additional times in the fall 2020 and in January 2021.
