Description

Clinical Documentation Specialist to provide clinically based concurrent and retrospective reviews of outpatient behavioral health records.

Duties include working with clinicians and providing education and feedback on proper documentation and medical coding assignment.

Must adhere to all state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Minimum of any of one of the following is required:

• Graduate of a certificate program in medical coding, medical auditing, or clinical documentation improvement and minimum of five (5) years of medical auditing or clinical documentation improvement experience, and must possess either a medical coding or HIM credential (CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA) at time of interview. The ideal candidate has a CDI credential (CDEO, CDIP, CCDS) at time of interview, or;

• A two (2) year degree in a health related field with a minimum of twelve (12) months of medical auditing or CDI experience. Must possess either a medical coding or HIM credential (CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA) at time of interview. The ideal candidate has a CDI credential (CDEO, CDIP, CCDS) at time of interview.

• A four (4) year degree in a health related field with a minimum of six (6) months of medical auditing or CDI experience, and must possess either a medical coding or HIM credential (CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA) at time of interview. The ideal candidate has a CDI credential (CDEO, CDIP, CCDS) at time of interview. The successful candidate will be proficient in MS Office, and have the computer skills to work with an electronic health record system and encoder.
