Description

The Expeditor coordinates the timely flow of work and materials for hot parts within or between departments according to the production schedule to avoid interruption of scheduled work.

Candidates in this role will be responsible for expediting, routing, and dispatching material and parts in accordance with production schedules and commitments and updating the necessary personnel on the status of those part.   

  • Compiles and maintains material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas, according to predetermined production schedules and order priorities: Reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.
  • Locates and distributes materials to specified production areas, manually or using handcart, hand truck, or forklift.
  • May direct industrial truck operator or material handler to expedite transfer of materials from stock area to production areas.
  • May examine material received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies, such as damaged or unmarked parts.
  • May drive truck to outlying work areas to check status of orders or to deliver materials.
  • Maintains a professional attitude particularly when under stress of deadlines and demonstrates sound judgement.
  • Meets company customer service goals and expectations by collaborating with Mercedes-Benz to aid in ensuring production has the materials and resources available required to meet established objectives.

  • Experience and/or Education: By training, education and/or experience, employee must be able to perform the essential duties of the job. Bachelor’s degree required. 1 year of manufacturing experience, preferred.
  • Computer Skills: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Products such as Word, Vanis and/or Excel, as well as the ability to utilize the computer systems at Mercedes-Benz.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow employees, effectively present information and respond to questions to convey understandable and concise messages.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
