Summary:  Provide support to the Senior Buyer in the areas of creating Purchase Orders from requisitions, sending out Purchase Orders to vendors, receiving order confirmations, working through issues related to the orders, other vendor communications, and checking requisitions for completeness & adherence to company policies. Additionally, providing support with other procurement projects, which may include revising Procurement Processes for increased efficiency and corporate compliance, sourcing (locating, negotiating, and maintaining the best sources of supply for all materials, supplies and equipment and services used at the company), and other projects related to procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Check requisition for completeness and clarity.  Obtain necessary missing information where required.
  • Prepare purchase orders, check for accuracy and completeness
  • Send purchase orders to vendors
  • Receive vendor order acknowledgements, communicate with requisitioners and vendors as needed to resolve issues and convey information regarding orders
  • Follow up on and expedite orders as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Investigate best sources as required

Job Location: Portland, OR

Shift: Full Time - Day

Compensation: $46,800.00 to $57,600.00 annually

Job Requirements

  • 1 year + purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Attention to Detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, via phone and e-mail
  • Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English
  • Knowledge of purchase department best practices
  • Experience with an ERP system, Microsoft AX and SAP preferred
  • Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.

 

Special skills required to perform job (machines, tools, equipment):

  • Microsoft Office including intermediate Excel skills
  • SAP, Axapta proficiency (can train on the job)

Education required: Associates Degree or equivalent experience required, Bachelors Degree preferred.
