Remittance Processor / Mail Room Clerk

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail oriented administrator to provide season as stance as a Remittance Processor or Mail Room Clerk a local municipality. This individual will be responsible for processing daily document transactions, opening and sorting mailed items, entering and documenting payments, processing payment confirmations and basic Data Entry. While receiving clear instruction, the individual must maintain the highest level of production and accuracy, while remaining focus on process effectiveness with an emphasis on high quality service and productivity.   

Job Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing batches of work by removing payments and forms from envelopes
  • Inputting data into the system while following standard operating procedures and customer specific instructions for processing
  • Verifying checks through customer specific instructions for processing
  • Maintaining productivity and quality standards
  • Working in all areas/departments of production as needed

Requirements:

  • Attention to detail and focus around meeting deadlines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • 2 years mailroom, cashiering, clerical or customer service experience in an office setting
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
  • Must be a team player and maintain a positive attitude at all times
  • Effectively interact with all diverse groups within the organization

A Government Security Clearance will be required for this position.  This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Fingerprints 
  • Employment and Education Verification 
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US
  • Criminal Background check
  • Drug Testing
